Washington Nationals Director of Player Development Doug Harris texted Washington Post Writer Adam Kilgore on Thursday officially confirming that Bryce Harper would be out for the remainder of the 2011 season as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Harper is expected to be recovered by the time the Arizona Fall League starts in early October.
Once his hamstring heals and once the Harrisburg Senators are out of the Eastern League playoffs, Bryce Harper will head to the Arizona Fall League and play for the Scottsdale Scorpions. It will be the second consecutive year for Harper in the AFL. He was a part time player in 2010 when he hit .349 with 3 Doubles, 2 Triples, One Home Run, and 7 RBI’s in 35 at-bats for Scottsdale in 2010.
Super-Agent Scott Boras was in attendance on Tuesday when the Washington Nationals introduced their newest draft signees Anthony Rendon, Alex Meyer and Brian Goodwin at Nationals Park. Following the media event, Boras talked about his more well known Nationals client Bryce Harper. Great story in the Portland Press Herald today talking to Portland Sea Dogs 16 year old bat boy Elliott Speirs who comes to the realization that the only other teenager in the dugout with him is none other than Bryce Harper.
